The Rye Foreshore Reserve, opposite Lyons Street, Rye. Port Phillip Conservation Council Inc. and others applied in 2002 to the Victorian Civil and Adminstrative Tribunal for it to review the decision of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to construct a proposed Skateboard, BMX and inline skating facility on the Foreshore Reserve opposite Lyons Street. VCAT's 2003 order that a permit not be granted recognized the proposal's inconsistency with the Victorian Coastal Strategy.
