LAUNCH OF PPCC Inc. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORD OF
THE PORT PHILLIP COASTLINE: 10th MARCH 1999

Successful Launch of Record:

People with an interest in conservation issues around Port Phillip were invited by the Port Phillip Conservation Council Inc. to the Launch by Hon. Marie Tehan, Minister for Conservation and Land Management, of the PPCC Inc. Aerial Photographic Record of the Port Phillip Coastline. After explanations of the project by the President of PPCC Inc. the Minister launched the record, its associated display of selected prints, and the official presence of it on our Web site, to the general approval of those present.

Acknowledgement of Assistance:

PPCC Inc. received financial assistance from government's COAST ACTION/COASTCARE iniitiative to produce a detailed photographic record of the Port Phillip Coastline that would pinpoint sites of concern, and also demonstrate the rate and types of large scale change occurring there. Highlights of the 1300 photographs taken on 5 flights were shown, as colour prints (available for sale individually), and are viewable on our Web site. We are also grateful for the Hampton Life Saving Club providing the venue for the launch at a concession price.

Remarks before and after Launch:

The PPCC Inc. President, Geoffrey Goode, summarized our key observations from this 1998 monitoring of the coast. We then invited Mrs Tehan to launch the Photographic Record, and its presence on www.vicnet.net.au/~phillip, and provide any response she might wish to make to our observations.
